That's pretty bizarre, I'm not sure what's going on for you there. Is it putting up a message saying "This site is asking for your current location?" Because I've seen that before and it will hold up the query until you respond.

Oh damn, I just checked my settings and it appears I allow all sites to show pop-ups. I don't remember doing that, I'm kinda bummed now. I thought chrome was being smart and recognizing that the popup was coming from search engine inserted js but apparently I had my settings down. Yea that does make that part…
Thanks Whitson, I'm glad you liked my little script. Fun fact, when I wrote it I had to decide whether to host the bulk of the script in the public folder of my dropbox or put the js in it directly. I decided to put it in directly mainly because you can't always write a script tag to the page. Pretty glad I made…
Yea unfortunately, that is a rather annoying limitation of the custom searches. If Chrome finds %s anywhere in your custom search url it requires you to type something after the keyword (that was the trick with the "down" one on the original article, you could just type the keyword since there was no %s in it at all).
Oh, I didn't consider that, could be true. Although I think that promotion was targeted at existing members, you'd have to read the fine print to see if it applies to people that purchased splashtop 1 after splashtop 2 came out. Even if it does though, AccessAnywhere is a subscription, being a splashtop 1 purchaser…
Sure! So I made a js scriptlet that can be used to enhance any normal search url with a lot more wildcards and hosted it here http://jsfiddle.net/mdegat01/WSLak/. Just like a normal search url you put the url at the front (replace the url variable with the new one you want) and put in wildcards for where you want…
So I'm having a blast with this right now, I had no idea you could use javascript in the custom search engines. This allows me to do what I've wanted to do for so long in chrome, make the Omnibar my personal "Quix".
YOU CAN PUT JAVASCRIPT IN THE CUSTOM SEARCH BOX?!?!?
Yea I agree, different reason but same principle, I found it was eating my battery. I hadn't opened the app in a month and it was still showing up as a noticeable battery consumer so that was the end of that.
Lets cover the obvious:
The problem is it's not a standard, if it was this would be a non-issue. They list out all the reasons at the verge (http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/29/3569688/why-nexus-4-does-not-have-4g-lte).
I don't think anyone is complaining, we just don't care anymore. You should never need to buy a 3rd party battery, android lovers put up with that kind of crap because we had to but it sucks. A phone manufacturer who puts out a shitty phone with 5 min of battery life and expects you to upgrade it on your own does…
Whoa, that's awesome! Yes there are definitely some android fans on here and you have just gotten one extremely excited about what may come out in the nexus line this fall.
That's sad, I was definitely the most interested in that one. I've been trying to figure out what to do with my alarm clock for a while. I actually have a tasker based one right now, I use the standard android clock app but set the sound on silent. Then I have tasker play a song whenever a timer goes off with the…
Yea it really doesn't care about the source of the data, just how many computers it is running on. You can even have it include windows shares accessible from your computer in the backup although you have to do some hacketry to do so (http://support.crashplan.com/doku.php/recipe/back_up_windows_mapped_drives). That…
What in the world are you talking about? You know why IE sucks beans now? Because it was so good back then that Microsoft figured why bother to change no one will ever beat them (same problem they are now finding out with nearly all their other products). Netscape did great things as well but the competition…
Anyone got a source for GetJar's gold box to set up notifications for that?
I'm confused by your argument. Buying apps and buying phones are not really interchangeable, if I'm getting an app for free I'm probably not going to use that money to buy a secondary smartphone. You have to pad the pockets of one of those to get into the app world to start helping developers and then you will…
It's not about feeling entitled to it, it's a marketing ploy they use to convince you to buy from them. Every store knows they have 1000 competitors and if you leave their store to go look somewhere else you aren't coming back. There is almost surely a competitor selling it closer to their margins somewhere and you…
Hmm, that's weird, wonder what the blackout rules are then, guess I'll have to look into it, now I'm curious. And yes, Red Zone is definitely amazing, it's one of those things that makes you hate cable companies for forcing you to pay for 800,000 channels you don't want just to get the couple like red zone that are…
