We feed our dog grain-free food and the brand we use has some unique flavors. I thought duck with green lentils was exotic until my husband came home yesterday with their kangaroo version. I’m sure it’s purely psychological, but I was horrified.

I’m an American but studied in Sydney, Australia for a year in my college days. Kangaroos are actually considered pests there and are readily sold at grocery stores there in various meat cuts (mostly ground)!

Rabbit is hardly endangered, has a TINY ecological footprint, can be raised in connection with a good garden (they eat scraps AND their poop is good fertilizer).  My neighbor raised rabbits for a time - for food, not as pets - but b/c my kids were involved in their care, we never ate one of them.  They stopped b/c (i)

You can make a delicious chili with lean meats but the meat is more for the mouth feel, than the flavor.  So, really, just make a good vegetarian chili and then add some fresh ground poultry that you pre-brown with nice seasonings.  (the exception is venison - as Wiskeyprayer mentioned - that is lean and delicious)

But what happens when that poor fellow wakes up in the middle of the night to find his home surrounded by hundreds of vengeful kangaroos?

Venison is a fairly lean meat and it makes delicious chili.

I was gonna say that pork isn’t the best example since there isn’t a religious rule about no kangaroos, but I checked, and apparently kangaroo isn’t kosher. I have a hard time imagining that the complaining parents were upset about that since it’s Nebraska, but that’s literally the only thing I can think of.

I agree, although there might be quite a number of parents that would kinda rightfully object to pork being secretly put into their kids’ food.

They don’t tell people the ingredients ever at school, in my experience.

Kangaroo meat is perfectly safe to eat, they’ve been trying to push it as an alternative to other proteins that are farmed under inhumane conditions for years.

whoa whoa whoa whoa....

When I was working in a small, local petstore a few years ago, kangaroo meat was the next trendy type of food for allergy-prone dogs. “Whitefish” was also the next alternative for dogs who couldn’t handle salmon. I wonder what proteins they’re on to by now.

A chef? A menu? The schools around here only serve frozen pre-packaged meals. Haven’t called the ‘kitchen staff’ “lunch ladies” for a looong time.

former nebraska inmate here (did 18 years while i was waiting to legally be allowed to gtfo). nebraskans are not interested in anything other than beef. other meat, especially lean meat, is for those atheist liberal femi-nazis who love abortion and hate good honest men like kavanaugh. his mistake was not making chili

They must have zoos in Nebraska.

Does kangaroo low key taste good?

And believe it or not, Jared is right too. This WILL blow over because the levels of horror and wrongness in the world today are so insane that we simply can’t hold onto outrage long enough about any one thing to make a difference.

That cats movie is going to be a cat-astrophic.

Well, normally you might give someone a reasonable ear when they speak, but when she absolutely kept supporting Trump after all the garbage he was spewing about her father, it was a write-off.
