Her kids were with her in the Catskills. I understand why you’d think that because they were barely shown. But Ethan was whisked away by an activity director as soon as they got there and there was the bit with Esther being left in the car and not-Jimmy being told to retrieve her.

The Bundys are Mormon. And Mormons have a boatload of flaws (like all religions) but they tend to be more supportive of immigration and less xenophobic than other conservatives. Trump’s approval rating among Mormons is generally low for a group that otherwise strongly skews Republican.

I read it and completely disagree there was no sympathy for Elphaba. yes it was morally grey. But she was clearly a sympathetic character trying to act within her own moral framework.  

If this Cruella De Ville movie is also a re-working of the philosophy of Sarte I still won’t see it but I’ll pretend to be interested.
