Yeah, one problem I’ve encountered is people will come to autocrosses and knowingly break the rules trying to drift there because they don’t have any other opportunities but it can’t be tolerated because if they have any accidents then it will cost autocrossers their opportunity to use those venues.

That would make a great Jalopnik video.

Well from my understanding it’s the rest of the community going after this whole organization, not just the driver.

The problem with that is NHRA is well established and has been working for decades to maintain it’s image. Drifting by comparison is still relatively young and for the longest time seemed to only attract careless hoons with no concern for safety. While it’s true he’s a moron for being there, the event coordinators (Hard to not laugh typing that one) should have made sure people understood and followed some basic safety guidelines.

I’ve always had kind of a lack of respect for the drifting community and it’s because in my mind these are the kinds of dirtbags I always think of. The fact that the professional drift community is being so proactive in their approach to this is huge step up in my books.
