One thing I loved in the Nira segment was when the Republican guy started asking invasive questions about Nira’s partner’s gender and genitalia. Then Nira starts going into detail about other private details of her body which of course makes the guy uncomfortable.

Notice how McCain and other concern trolls in the media will focus almost entirely on the label and not the substance. When substance is brought up, they will deflect as quickly as possible to the label, and to Venezuela, and to anything other than the actual policies and ideas being proposed.

There are assholes in every genre of music. The no-wave asshole is just a very particular breed of asshole. James Chance used to jump off stage and start punching people in the audience, for example. Shame he was a skinny kid, though. Robert Christgau was at his show once and ended up kicking his ass.

I’m ok with this. You can sometimes tell Conan gets a little bored with the really structured interviews and monologues. He’s got a really good production team and writers so hopefully this turns out well. He’s my favorite late night host since Craig Ferguson left.
