You’re right, they cannot put the electronics on the floor, because the floor will rust away and everything will fall off :) Except G8, because that’s a nice car.

A lot of car companies put all kinds of control modules on the floor. That’s a “free” space, out of sight but also easily accessible. Look under the front seats, under the front carpets, on the trunk floor. So yeah, when you leave your windows open and it rains it possible to total your car.
