I don’t miss it much. It was a beautiful car, had tons of power, sounded great, but it’s about 1/10th the car that the Boxster is. It’s hard to understand why Porsches are so expensive until you live with one. After I test drove the Boxster and drove home in the CS, it felt like a truck in comparison.

Mine was dead on...Porsche Cayman, Mercedes C class coupe then BMW 428i....and I actually have a 981 Boxster.

It’s a totally different experience and a different buyer IMO. If speed is all you’re looking at, you’d ditch both and buy a used vette. If it’s your only car, a hot hatch makes a lot of sense. The v8 adds a lot to the experience, though (especially with aftermarket exhaust). You don’t get that sensation in a hot

I felt the same when I had a 13 Mustang Cal Special with 420hp as my daily commuter. It was actually a little frustrating that I couldn’t tap into all of that power. I traded it for a 13 Base Boxster and can happily wring it out on my way to work, but I admit I do miss the power of the Mustang.

Yes the 911 turbo had a different IMS bearing. The rest of the 911s and Boxsters had the bad IMS bearing for the 986/996 generations. I understand that the 997.1/987.1 had an IMS with fewer problems but it was still an issue, but it was totally resolved in 2009 with the 997.2/987.2 refresh.
