I had a civil conversation with Holly Fisher's husband.
Why does only one or the other of them have to be terrible? No, he shouldn't do what he did. But she is a propagandist for some pretty dangerous ideas.
I can't imagine how a 20-year-old who lost a brother 3 months ago and has been living 6000 miles away from his family is having a rough year.
Maybe he realized he was playing for a team that doesn't care?

I feel like I know you from somewhere...
And conservative bigots naturally assume that hispanics aren't assimilating because they "tout" their heritage. There are plenty of Latinos in the armed forces (since WWII), in Law Enforcement, Politics, etc...We'll be the majority in CA soon, if we're not already. I'd say we're pretty damn assimilated asshole. You…
I know, why should you assume a lifelong ABQ resident would know English?
That happened to me once in high school. Except I fell stomach side down and broke both bones in my forearm trying to break my fall.
I'm glad that you mentioned the death penalty for drug smugglers being well pulicized in Indonesia, because that reinforces an important point about why death penalty is not only inhuman, but also useless: it doesn't work as a deterrent to crime. If it did, Indonesia, US, Japan, Saudi Arabia, China, etc., would be…
The death penalty is way more expensive than life in prison and you can call me a dope or a bleeding heart, I don't give a ish, the fact remains that the legal system is racist to its core, makes mistakes (count the number of people that have been exonerated) and more importantly, the number of innocent people that…
Prisons, at least if done right, are more than just a "tiny cell" and "never-ending psychological nightmare". America ofcourse still loves to torture its massive prison population with such crude methods, as if it'd somehow help to fight crime, but the Nordic countries, for example, show that crime can be punished…
Solitary confinement absolutely can be a form of torture, but don't kid yourself that it's cheaper to kill them than keep them. Death penalty cases cost far more money than inmates sentenced to life.
"if true" being the most relevant part of that statement. How fair do you imagine the trial she had was, given she' a foreign female in Saudi Arabia from a pariah state with zero power to extricate one of their nationals from a situation like this. Is there a chance she was a scapegoat?
It's a shame the U.S. is too cozy with Saudi Arabia (and too busy with our own executions) to denounce this sort of thing. If they were our "enemies" we'd be bombing Saudi women into freedom right now.
I am 100% against the death penalty in any and all cases. That said, the idea that beheading is "barbaric" is just western racism.
Clearly, he's uncomfortable covering distances longer than a yard or two.
kind of a misunderstanding about WWZ. it isn't about fast zombies or slow zombies although in this you see the more traditional slow zombies. it is about how badly humanity can really mess itself up. The Zombies nearly win (and are still around) not from their ability but just how badly just about every single…
A movie version of the book won't work—it's episodic and has weight; it's truly meant for something on television. Probably cable.
