my problem with the first Cloverfield was that there was way too much. That if you didn’t read any of it, that the movie didn’t make sense, instead of being an enhancement to the film

from reading IMDB boards it has to do with the viral marketing, one of the things I loathed about Cloverfield that nothing made sense unless you immersed yourself into all the side websites
