Shit, the GOP doesn’t even need to control all three branches; the NC Supreme Court and Governor are both democrats, but since the GOP controls the Legislature with a Supermajority, they were still able to manage to push through their racist gerrymandering.

This is worse than Citizens United. This is the end of the Republic. Call me hyperbolic if you want to, but this is where it ends. This means that Republicans have a green light to cheat to maintain power, and prevent themselves from ever losing that power.

If California embraced gerrymandering and went nuts, the whole thing would be over the next day.

I think you’re right, which would be an ideal solution (although I’ll bet they’ll try hard to find definitions of unacceptable gerrymandering that just happen to include only those things that Democratic states do).

I suspect that if Dems get enough states and gerrymander, either the SCOTUS or Republicans will suddenly become concerned with this issue and want to rectify it.

Okay, so now I really think blue states need to start gerrymandering a lot more. Obviously the ideal would be a country with no gerrymandering, but that’s not going to happen. The worst case is one where one party gerrymanders with abandon and the other party (more popular overall) does not.

This really shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone. The bottom line is that we can’t rely on a Republican-hijacked Supreme Court to save us - not until we take it back somehow, but even then, we should also be focusing on what else we can do about this. Elizabeth Warren’s proposed plan to have Congress pass

“Of all times to abandon the Court’s duty to declare the law, this was not the one. The practices challenged in these cases imperil our system of government. Part of the Court’s role in that system is to defend its foundations. None is more important than free and fair elections. With respect but deep sadness, I

“IDK who thinks free college is giving a pass to rich kids, because rich kids already have one.”

Does this bill also change the tax laws? Because if your loan is forgiven that is considered income that you will owe a one time tax on as if you had an income of the amount forgiven. That could result in thousands to tens of thousands of dollars owed for that tax year above what would be normally owe.

“She says Trump’s kids arent taking out loans — it’s a crisis facing middle, lower class graduates whose parents couldn’t pay full freight”

Come on! Help us out and think of it as a reverse Marshall Plan.

Fuck you, no. We have had enough nutjobs here, took us long enough to clean them out (and we aren’t finished yet).

Yeah, for the Trump Administration, these are features, not bugs. I was amused to see that Ingraham thought that Trump inviting a foreign government to hack emails might be a problem, though. That’s the kind of sharp political thinking that the Trump Administration could use more of.

Never forget...

Nah. Probably didn’t take the gig because she’d have to give up her Fox job which pays more and doesn’t require her to respond when her statements turn out to be 100% false.

Or this is the real Evangelical Christianity. And can be attributed to all the extremist forms of Abrahamic religions around the world.

Not in appropriations means it’s not in the private prison company’s contract.

Fake ass “christians”, like Pence, are having a great time making hell on Earth.
