I don’t think not bunting in a no-hitter is giving up necessarily. I think what angers the “no bunting in no-hitter” crowd is the bunting is specifically meant to break up the no-hitter, and not for any strategic purpose of winning the game.

It is a no-hitter, but the game was within striking distance, so Trenton should absolutely be doing what it can to put runners on base.  

I don’t really understand this one. They’re upset that they bunted to break up a no-hitter. But they failed to defend the batter from hitting the ball with his bat and getting on base. Does a no-hitter feel good if you know the opponent didn’t actually try to get a hit?

And since they were, in fact, playing in one of the bush leagues, by definition, isn’t this the proper venue to bunt in the 9th inning to break up a no-hitter anyway?

I mean, Double-A is basically the bush league, so...
