I’m not down with this anti-intellectualism. I have a large vocabulary. I use the words I know with the closest meaning to what I am trying to say. It means sometimes I use words other people don’t know. Fancy words are fun to learn and say!

If you constantly worry about having to “dumb down” your writing, you’re a bad writer.

I get the idea of calling folks on being pretentious, however dumbing down your language skills so you don’t appear to be elitist is short-minded. Yes some people get offended because I use words they don’t understand but this in English and not everything needs to be expressed solely in lyrics from a country or rap

The worst part about this is that Izzo thinks his yelling made this kid effective.  Studies have shown (read The Happiness Advantage) that yelling does the opposite and the kid even talked about the pressure he feels when being yelled at.  His teammate had to intervene yesterday and asked Izzo what point he wanted to

“Guns aren’t the problem. Look at Chicago, where there are strict gun crimes!”

“Nothing can be done,” says only country where this regularly happens.

I think I am biased towards hating them as they remind me of the kind of couple that makes out on a crowded subway and doesn’t care about the other people. Then then get off and because they’re holding hands blocks the escalator for people to walk past them.

To all these profilers I prescribe the book “Why Does He Do That,” by Lundy Bancroft, a counselor who worked with abusive men.

Bill Maher is trash.

[...]writers (with whom I’m sure would be popular here) who want to confiscate wealth wholesale by arbitrary guidelines set by, again -the mob.
