I just remembered an even better story! I saw Nirvana in late Summer 1993. They’d booked a show at the Jackson County Fairgounds in Southern Oregon before they blew up big and were contractually on the hook to still do the show. Their contempt for having to be there was absolutely palpable. Bobcat Goldthwaite opened

I laughed so hard when my sister phoned to tell me he died cause there wasn’t a neurosurgeon to save him.

THANK YOU for this article. I have been wondering where they found such wonderful tartans and plaids. Having spent a year abroad in Scotland, I was very relieved that the men weren’t dancing about in the garishly bright tartans of today, and that it was kept muted and more appropriate for the era.

I’m so glad she read the books and loves them. I can imagine that as a fashion designer, this series would be a dream come true. I mean, minus the insane schedule. I love all the detail in the books about what they are wearing, and how it impacts their lives. This was a great interview! I’m stressed for her!

sounds neat.....i personally like the approach. i’ve been on myfitnesspal for 2+ years now, and have found, sticking to a select few ‘core foods’ i am never hungry, nor do i have ‘forgotten food’ that goes bad......

I’m able to take road trips and never eat fast food. You stop and find a small mom/pop diner and have a small meal. Works great and makes the trip a bit more relaxing. It’s not worth the time saved to shovel food in your face while you drive.

“ The idea that they are now sexy and erotic and on trend because white girls want them is offensive.”

I thought she was turning into a bratz doll

Jamie Layton’s story reminds me of a famous story I heard when I was working at a regional theater festival.

I don’t think the headscarves themselves are harmful; the ideals behind it are, absolutely. I wonder if “reclaiming the headscarf” is a thing, like reclaiming the n word. Maybe some Muslim women don’t wear headscarves because they feel like every woman should in the name of modesty. Maybe they’ve reclaimed the

The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the minister Francis Bellamy. Bellamy had hoped that the pledge would be used by citizens in any country.

I agree. I'm an atheist and a feminist and I see the issue of veiling as rooted in enforced modesty and slut-shaming, no different from telling girls they can't wear tank tops or yoga pants.

Wow, this Sharon Poe person sounds like a particularly disgusting human being.

If you woke up as your 15 year old self, what do you think your 15 year old self would think of your current life?

Holy crap. I clicked on the video and knew exactly where she is at (sign me up to be an investigative reporter, ESPN. I have a college degree, am in good shape, have all my teeth, and live in an apartment). Before everyone absolutely rags on Britt here, let me play devil’s advocate for just one second.

Meh, I don’t really even have a witty comment to make. Probably the only thing that comes to mind is good riddance, and what an absolute moron. He threw away his entire life for nothing. All of the money he stood to make from football is gone. All of the potential on-field success and accolades are no more. Most

I am desperately trying to learn this skill. I have a tendency towards obsession and it can be exhausting. I like to track my diet and exercise, especially when I'm training for a specific fitness goal, but it quickly becomes all I think about.
