Ill treatment of Asian women (especially east Asian) is prevalent worldwide. There's a global stereotype that all East Asian women are white-crazy whores.

Personally if I ever went to a sperm bank I would be looking for a child that -I- had total control over by myself. Otherwise I would just date someone, etc. In this case I would just take sperm where the donor waived his rights.

Europe in some ways is actually a LOT WORSE than the U.S. when it comes to racism and sexism, because at least here we acknowledge that racism/sexism is bad. I've actually had many European men at my school say highly offensive stuff, such as:

The opposite is kind of true, too, or at least in different parts of the world (even country). My Russian professor was talking about the difference in culture between America and his home, and he said that back home, if you smiled all the time, people would think you were crazy.

I don't think religion in its current form is conducive to an academic environment anymore. Remember Gregor Mendel, father of genetics? He was a monk. Nowadays highly religious institutes are more and more about the denial of science than the furthering of it.

Duke undergrad here. Nope. Duke is pretty much as nonreligious as you could get.
