Cali” sounds very 90's to me. I’ve seriously never heard anyone who’s actually from here say it. But I live in LA so maybe people from other parts of the state claim the state as a whole and use it. Down here it’s rare to hear anyone talk about any place outside of SoCal.

I’m from Frisco, in northern Cali, spent some time in SacTown then moved to SoCal. Now I split my time between the OC and Hollywood.

And no one I’ve ever known from California says “Cali” so I guess we’re at a stalemate.

You from “Frisco”?

Surely you jest. You call it “Cali”? Are you from “the OC”? “San Fran”?

Stop saying “Cali”.

I stopped reading after your first line. That’s all I wanted to hear. Have a nice life. Or don’t.

I didn’t say “uninspiring”, I said “uninspired”. Then you immediately project a lack of comprehension onto me. Can’t make this shit up. Maybe look up “uninspired” along with “warmongering”.

Thanks for the uninspired response. Good luck in the keyboard wars to come.

I don’t understand why people like Natasha Lyonne or cast her in projects. The premise to this show seems like something I’d really enjoy but I haven’t watched because I find her face/voice/general presence grating.

Is this done for the sake of the film’s continuity or is it as nefarious as the headline makes it sound?

You’re right, when you said the “official one” I should’ve known you were referring to the one that no one knows or sings and has nothing to do with the conversation being had or the article on which you’re posting. Guess my brain “isn’t good with words” like you said.

OP was talking about anthems at sporting events so it’s reasonable to infer from your comment that you’re referring to the version of the anthem sung at sporting events. You can hide behind semantics but if that’s not what you meant then your comment was irrelevant to the OP’s.

Oh I see, you’re talking about lyrics no one knows or performs at sporting events and that don’t support your statement that there’s “too much warmongering (in the version sung at sporting events). Gotcha.

I heard that Tom Brady owned slaves.

Hard disagree. There’s no “warmongering” in the Star Spangled Banner and it’s actually a pretty cool song.

I read it on The Root so it has to be true.

Interesting that the song was first performed on Lincoln’s birthday. I read somewhere that he owned slaves.

I get that this website has absolutely no journalistic standards and that editing (or even proofreading) is virtually nonexistent, but everything Emily Leibert writes seems to stick out as particularly terrible, even with such a low bar.

If that’s how he feels that’s how he feels. It seems pointless to take him to task over what is essentially a generational philosophical conflict. That mainstream culture and corporate messaging have been reinforcing representation matters” and highlighting “first (insert minority)” accomplishments is a relatively
