I vividly remember being at shows and people arguing about whether someone was punk because of the type of guitar they played (brand, pickups, color, whether it was covered in stickers, did they care about how it looked, did they fucking take care of it)

I had forgotten about them...but wow they were bad

as someone who was somewhat in that scene at one point in life....there is nothing worse than debating how punk something or someone is

maybe not dismissive, that period is just hard to look back at because both existed at once, and at times one was more important than the other and vice versa.
