It was only a few years ago that Alex Jones was nothing but a punchline to all but the lunatic fringe. It's bizarre and troubling that he's a major part of public discourse now, with the accompanying cultural impulse to treat his insane gibberish as legitimate due to the compulsion to see "both sides" of everything.

I'm honestly more tired of people complaining about people doing Austin Powers catchphrases than I am of the thing being complained about. I certainly hear the complaining more often than I hear anyone actually say "Yeah baby" or whatever, and it's been that way since the 90s.

I swear to you, for a second I was like "Huh, who in the Naked Gun movies did something bad?" I guess it's easy to forget because it was so under-covered in the media at the time.
