I knew a guy used to work a camera at Fox news. He was former military, liberal pothead, HATED the on-screen talent.

I agree that it’s important to the future of the party to take these allegations seriously, and for Franken to resign as a part of that. I’m not sure I understand your distinction between uneducated and educated white women here (who equally deal with assault and harassment), and I’d say Moore’s election in Alabama

Almost every last one of them think FOX’s stance is bullshit.

Because around these parts, and in liberalism in general, it is far easier to critique one of your own. No one on the right gives a shit about whether Kate Winslet or men in Allen films are complicit or whatwver ism we want to throw around today. They ignore this shit. On the left, it usually devolves into Oppression

Really, the studio and the producers are more of the issue. They’ve chosen to work with someone with a past and have no issue with giving him loads of money to finance his projects.

This is a good point, and I get what you were trying to say, originally. I just think, though, that Alabama does provide a window into how insanely difficult that is going to be.

My stance is simple: my opinion regarding what projects professional actors should or shouldn’t take is less than fucking meaningless, and I’m not comfortable being the peanut-gallery arbiter of someone’s career choices.

In both cases, you’re promoting the intellectual equivalent of picking on a server at a restaurant because you don’t like the happy-hour specials. It’s not in her control, she DOES, in fact, need work, and it’s NOT your call to make. If you’re free to make perfect ethical choices in your life, I envy you. If you

These are not even remotely comparable situations.

Any answer AND no answer would have been “incorrect” in this commentariat’s eyes....

But Salma Hayek working on Frida was okay?

Yeah... I just got in an argument with people saying Frida is “acceptable” despite Weinstein. Nobody retroactively panning it or trying to shame Salma for working on it. Strange how different gauges apply when the theme and/or reception of the film is different...

I feel bad for Kate Winslet because there is plenty of blame to throw around. If you are going to rag on her for working with Allen, then what about the film crew? What about the financial backers? What about the theater owners that show his works?

I agree, it’s disconcerting to see everyone pile on the actresses involved in his movies and none of the male actors. Kate is certainly in the wrong here, but why does she have to atone for Allen’s behavior any more than the men working with him?

I do hope you greet them with a hearty “Happy Holidays,” though.

Wasn’t there already a video released of him groping someone?

He might have been able to deny these claims. But he’s already announced his plan to resign, which implies these accusations hold water.

Not that I’m a fan of going after 82 year old humans, but the whole thing of physically altering dogs to suit our tastes is pretty awful and we need to stop doing that.

Look, I like Al Franken’s policies as a Senator, and I think that he’s done some good for our nation, but we can’t have someone who so clearly has been terrible towards other people representing the citizens of America.

They also ignore that there is no entitlement to “due process” before your colleagues ASK you to resign. No Senator calling for Franken’s resignation actually has the authority to force him to do anything. If Franken is innocent and feels the Ethics Committee investigation will absolve him, he can put on his big boy
