My dad had a ketchup red Chevy Caprice sedan - I’d guess probably an ‘80 or so?

The rumor was that the platform and inline 6 engines would be shared with Lexus; which is why Toyota was supporting development. Also that the next CX-9 (CX-90?) is going to make use of the RWD platform. If anything, that gives me more hope that there might actually be another sedan in Mazda’s future. I am certain they

They’re building a whole new plant in the US and concentrating on crossovers. They’re not leaving the US.

This is what it boils down to. For the vast majority of non-enthusiast car buyers, the default choice is no longer a sedan — it’s a crossover.

My parents had a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria. All windows rolled down (although the rears only halfway) and they *did* spring for A/C, thankfully. Idling too long with the A/C on would sometimes cause the engine to overheat, although it was a little bit unclear that was what was happening because there were no engine gaug

To be fair, the CX-5 is the new 6 in the same way the CRV is the new Accord and the RAV-4 is the new Camry. Sad but true.

I am 20 years older, you missed the truly bad years of American cars.

These are the (literally) hot takes that keep me reading Jalopnik

I worked in a place that had a small fleet of Malibus from this era. Truly despicable cars. We actually had a booking system based on what was broken on each car. As in: “I have to hop over to the plant, I’ll take broken passenger door. I’m going alone anyway” or “I’ll take fried headlight switch. I’ll only be out

I was in your position almost exactly a year ago. One piece of advice i can give is get the car seat in the car a couple weeks early, so you’re not wrestling with it in the hospital parking lot, fighting the heat and humidity after getting no sleep for 2 days.

Time to step into parent corner and talk about LATCH. Back in the day, child seats would simply loop the lower lap restraint through a little slide area, and that’s how you kept a baby safe.

I bet they'll end up doing an extended cab version. The money is in crew cabs, so for a while they'll all be crew cabs. Once production is in full swing though, I bet they'll expand the lineup. Ford is pretty good about doing that with the F-150. Heck, they're the only one to offer a regular cab short bed truck

This is exactly what I’d expect a lot of folks would want in an electric truck.

This would be a badass truck for a local construction company. You wouldn’t need any insane range, but you have lots of power and room for tools.

Meh, I drive 600 miles each way everyday, both uphill in the snow with a full truck bed. That range wont work for me........therefore all electric cars are garbage.

It’s more like 3/4ths, and at the top of a hill. I used to jog when its nice. But we’ve got a 6 month old and a babysitter at the house and being able to get there fast if I needed is some peace of mind.

Yeah, that statement is akin to saying there is no drought in XX, because there is plenty of rain in YY.

Rural town. Middle of nowhere Virginia.
