Weirdest thing about that Tame Impala cover is that she literally just sings over the original track. They changed nothing; Kevin Parker's voice is still on the track behind her's, creating a kind of weird karaoke-ish effect.

Wait — nitpick-alert! — wasn't she forced into the FORMER option by her mother? Unless I misunderstood & she DOES get expelled, only to go to treatment afterwards? I'm confused.

This was a damned-if-they-do/damned-if-they-don't sorta deal, I think. Had they gone with hyper-realistic characters, people would've criticized them for veering too far from the source material & "going dark," which seems to be a really popular criticism these days. But, going full-CG & full-cartoony probably

When I first found out I was Divergent, I was worried about what my family & friends might think. But thanks to my doctor, I now know that there's an easier way. Introducing: ALLEGIANT: the twice-a-day pill for all your Divergent issues.

I saw a clip from this movie that has Jason Mantzoukas playing what appears to be a character from a different, more self-aware (& surreal) draft of the screenplay.

Secret late-third-act cameo from Keanu-as-in-Reeves ?

I wonder if Kirkland Signature is a paid sponsor. Either way, the fact that nearly everything in the world of BASKETS is Costco-branded is so perfect & unexpected & amazing.

They did it in STEVE JOBS, & look how few showed up for that.

I really hope he doesn't make the new characters go to the ol' Prometheus School of Running this time around. Let them zig ! Let them zag ! Let them turn !

The question is whether the defendant murdered Teresa Halbach, NOT whether he is a man with violent characteristics. Even if he had a

THE ELECTRICIAN is so damn good & so damn cinematic on its own that it actually greatly disappointed me to find out it was used (& then, finally, to see it) in BRONSON.

This is a great show, but impossible to recommend to anyone without them looking at you with eyes narrowed, trying to figure out whether or not you're joking.

Seeing Sean O'Neal's name made me oddly sad, before I even started reading, as I immediately envisioned a future (possibly near but hopefully far) where he writes an obituary / celebration of Jason Pierce / J Spaceman.

I'm watching the documentary right now, with my teeth clenched. This guy is remorseless. He genuinely believes he did nothing wrong.

Thanks to this post, I just watched STRAIGHT TIME, which I hadn't heard of before. It was excellent, one of the most gut-wrenching movie-watching experiences I've had in a wild (I just so badly wanted to shake Max by the goddamn shoulders the hold time, & then give him a hug). So: thank you. Theresa Russell's

The anus of journalistic legend. (Sorry / not sorry)

Huh ? That's some Lycra-level stretchy.

Yeah but that's kind of Ripley's (& most real conmen's) whole thing: playing off of people's conventional stupidity & predictable expectations. The cops never truly take his side; they simply don't believe a historical WOMAN & choose to believe the industrialist Mr. Greenleaf, who prefers Tom's story (remember the
