Good nomination. I actually like the Buick Envista cousin, but the engines in these are a no-go for me.
The new Chevy Trax, it has a nice hatch/wagon shape but is hampered by only offering the 1.2T. It would look really good dropped a few inches, then drop in the 2.0T or 2.5T, add AWD if possible, swap out the 6 speed auto an 8 auto (I’d say manual but trying to be realistic with the present market). A 250 or so hp Trax…
I’m going to jump in and say none. Getting a sporty version of regular cars has been a mess on our roadways with all the stupid X6M liftback SUV things, a 9000 pound Hummer with 1000 hp, and dozens of trucks/SUVs that are sub 7 seconds getting 0-60 while also getting bigger and heavier. Everything has been sportified.…
I think you meant to type Car & Driver, and their’s didn’t really ever run properly. The best Boss Wagon they ever did was the Volvo 265 imo but I digress: https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a15143471/holy-conestoga-sven-its-boss-wagon-iii-archived-feature/.
Bolt SS or Leaf Nismo. Are they one of the only EVs without a performance trim?
Mitsubishi Mirage. Build a tiny terror!
This is the correct answer. Mazdaspeed all the things. And put manuals back in them!
I got to do a job shadow for a friend’s dad when I was in high-school who was an exec at Chrysler, and I sat in a meeting during the early days of SRT. There was an engineer who honestly wanted to do just that, but with Viper V10s. He came and made a pitch for it in that meeting. Didn’t get approved, but it’s fun to…
This would be awesome, but I also think it happening would fundamentally be a sign the Express was going out of production, which would be sad.
GMC version only available in black with a spoiler and red sport stripe, right?
Mazda3. Like Maxis 47 (apparently), I agree that we need the Mazdaspeed line back. The Mazda5 doesn’t exist in America (and there would probably be little market for a mini-minivan), so let’s go with what might be attainable. It could be just what Mazda needs to get back up to <ahem> speed.
If the previous-generation Legacy could have been had with a manual transmission I would have bought one, but unfortunately we only get it with a hateful CVT, which is a non-starter.
I still wish Stellantis adopted a policy of dropping a Hellcat in everything. A 200 Hellcat, Pacifica Hellcat, Dart Hellcat, and ProMaster Hellcat would have been absolutely hilarious.
Haha, I’ve just said the same thing about the 6. Come on, Mazda, throw us a bone here.
Ya’ll, the answer is simple. Mazdaspeed5
anything Mazda, yes yes they have the upper GT trims but we need to bring back the mazda speed era, especially on the 3. I’d love to see how good that car can really be to drive
I wish there was a sportier version of the Mazda6. I’m on my second estate. I had a 2.2D, which died when the oil pump broke. It was fast enough and had pull, even in lower gears, but sublimely in the high gears.
Now I have a 2.0 (NA), which is a bit slow tbh. Struggles in the upper gears, but pulls ok in the low end.…
Something pint-sized and cheap like a Hyundai Venue ST with a manual. I’m drawing a blank because there are so few cheap cars now. Maybe a Toyota CorollaCross XRS or something like that.
Subaru Crosstrek STI
