Seriously

Sean Connery was like 32 in Dr No!

I wasn’t super into DDM at any point, but I kind of checked out in a review where he was going on about how weird and quirky (I know, it’s his thing) a floor-mounted high beam switch was, as if that wasn’t an incredibly common thing for years.

Hey, the criteria was expanded to 73-83, which the GTV6 falls in (the Alfetta falls in even more cleanly if you can skip the lovely V6).

That looks like the light/fan switches in the bathroom in my late grandma’s house - those are like 50 years old, still working well, and incredibly satisfying to use. I imagine the MOPAR variant feels similar.

Basically, it was easier to stick a sourced overdrive unit on the back of a 4-speed transmission than to develop a new 5-speed (I believe MGB’s used something similar, I’m sure it was common enough at the time). But more importantly, it’s just fun to say Laycock de Normanville.

It’s relatively tame compared to a lot of stuff, but GM’s horseshoe shifter (from the mid-60's to mid-80's in a range of vehicles) was a nice bit of Jet Age flair.

My 4YO did too! I sadly hung back so there’d be enough time for kids to do it.

I know we’re acknowledging things are irrational here, but I would like to see anyone justify that the Saab 9000 (the last model developed pre-GM) is substantially more characterful than the NG900/9-3/9-5. As well, it’s hard to talk about the viability of a brand that at time of buyout, was building about 100k cars

Boy racer? More like Chancellor racer. I hope there’s an alternate reality where Jimmy Carter drove a Shelby GLHS in his post-presidency, but outside of that, Helmut Schmidt’s GSi will do.

Besides all the rational reasons, my wife would be pretty stoked if I brought one of these home.

At one point in my life, I needed a car, my then-fiancee (now wife) had a Hyundai Accent she wasn’t using, and that’s how I spent 4 or 5 hours a day driving around for work in a miserable little Korean penalty box without air conditioning. I simultaneously recognize how different modern Hyundais and Kias are from

I don’t entirely trust this tech to consistently work properly (whether it’s GPS not recognizing the difference between the highway and the local road either directly adjacent or beneath, or just issues with the sign readers). As well, it’s not unheard of for speed limits to be set either with revenue generation in

Top Gear’s reasonably priced cars make a pretty good showing for themselves - I know we got the Liana in North America, but I genuinely have to look up what it was called (I know not SX4, because that replaced it), and probably the only reason I remember the Lacetti was the Optra is from working at a GM dealer when

One better - that same Malibu, but the lazy rebadge! Although, we also never got these in Canada, which might influence me a bit.

Asymmetric mirrors on the W124, for what were likely immensely logical reasons, but something that never caught on.

The Chevrolet Spectrum doesn’t appear to have been available in a wide range of colours (6 from the ‘85 brochure, and half of those aren’t colours).

I can ignore a few ads and look at my phone for a minute for $8.50/mo.

Runner up to that is the Monaco. How can you even be properly French (or French-adjacent, I suppose) without a working lighter?
