If you are Coup De Grace’d you do not suffer additional penalties (as in soul loss) for 2.5 hours from that point. So you could get killed 20 times, but only lose soul-time once.
Nothing stops the physical theft of items though.
It’s not a full reset. Your gear / land ownership / titles etc. can be inherited through the family system via direct heir’s or contracts. Your skills reset but you can retrain them in your new life faster as you get “skill ramps” which contribute towards this.
