99.9~% of anything creative is shit, man... that’s the nature of having people learn by throwing stuff out there. They get better with time and practice and good feedback. You don’t get the .1% of awesome, free of the rest that serves as a testbed, open distribution platform and support community. You need the rest of

Fanfiction is written by a range of people with a range of abilities. And I’m not sure I understand how “riding a fandom bandwagon” is different than, “I always dreamed about writing Batman.”

As opposed to published stuff which is, maybe, 70% terrible.

I think it’s possible to both enjoy fanfic and drop your jaw at just how awful some of it is. I know I manage it.

Did anyone see 20/20 on Friday? (Did anyone know it was still around? I did not, but I stumbled upon it by accident.) Anyway, they did the whole show on the NXIVM cult and while it really didn’t tread much turf untrodden by Jezebel and Splinter in the past 6 months, it did give faces to the problem and went a bit

You seem to be making a lot of generalisations about fanfiction. Yes, alas, a lot of it appears to be fetish and erotica orientated, but the entire premise of creating a story using established characters simply for one’s own amusement is not an inherently ‘undignified’ one. Amateur doesn’t mean ‘incompetent’, and

...sadly, after all the unbelievable shit 2017 has proved true, I am about 90% prepared to just completely take this woman at her word and accept that yes, she has indeed fucked a ghost.

Not even no one was listening . . . they called him a liar and vilified him in public. Corey at least has thousands of supporters. It breaks my heart that this happens ALL THE TIME to women and men who don’t have the public backing or financial power to continue the fight.

He literally named names to the police and they did nothing! That’s infuriating.

In October, Feldman told Matt Lauer that he named his alleged abusers during the course of an investigation, but authorities maintained they did not have any record to support his claim.

I’m so happy for Corey. To me, he’s like the Rose McGowan of the boy set. He kept crying out, and no one was listening.

Revenge is a dish best served via neatly filed paperwork.

They’re not all terrible. I thought Snowpiercer was great— its action sequences (the axe fight and the classroom fight) and performances made the insane premise work. And What’s Your Number? is one of the better rom-coms I’ve seen in years. That’s mostly due to the charisma of the leads, but I also really appreciated

Isn’t Jenny the one giggling in the background of Cap’s tweets about his sweet as hell doggums singing with his stuffed lion?

One of my 10th graders walked into my room this morning, beaming. “We’re gonna have a Black princess, y’all!”
