The Wrangler also exists. And the features he’s talking about are design cues, not added amenities. LR could have done a reimagining of the Defender, instead, they reimagined what a defender concept from the early 2000's might look like.

I did not like the concept, but, after seeing all the shots of the actual Defender...I kinda love it. This is high praise from me, a card-carrying SUV hater.

Intellectually, I understand that can never happen again, because pedestrian crash test standards exist, and I’m not sure body on frame SUV’s ever will make a return, given some practical and platform-sharing limitations. (The new Bronco seems like it might, though, so...)
