Seems I'm in the minority, but I thought this episode was terrible. It was all over the place, lacked logic and jumps so quick with new relationship things.

That sepia tone thing is always jarring. But I think it is an attempt by the editors to visually transition from night to day - or the nighvision doesn't work quite right in the wee hours.
I would argue Arrow qualifies as Gritty.
Coda is the end of a music section. Beth was the group's bard of sorts. Clever episode name.
This was more like a C or a D to me. I understand setting up storylines, etc, but I wasn't a fan so much.

We watched most of season 1…but it just went on and on and on. Should I give it another shot?
Exile Island worked well to me. Redemption Island is slow, and the torch snuffing just seems insignificant. I was not crazy about this first episode, but as a Survivor die-hard I have faith I'll get in line in an episode or two.
