Absurd. All my friends’ weddings have been delightful expressions of people I love, and all the weddings I’ve been to where I didn’t know the couples beforehand were fun parties. Is it possible everyone you know just has very bad taste in party-planning?

I’m not sure what kind of weddings you’ve been to, but all the ones I’ve been at rocked. I got to see friends, eat free food, drink free booze, and dance. Awesome.

Um, Pahstah is how they are pronouncing it. Not short A like bag. Did I miss something?

I only listened to the first guy, and he said “pah-sta.” Not “pass-ta” like the Brits.

The other side of the deal here is that white British people are never allowed to say “motherfucker” in an RP accent because it sounds daft.

If I were invited to a picnic with FOUR HUNDRED other people that was held months after a formal wedding ceremony, and did not feature any “traditional wedding crap”, I would in no way consider that to be a reception and would feel REALLY weird if gifts were mentioned in any way. The number of invitees alone would

“Twat” as a vulgar term for vagina isn’t a recent import into the US and the difference in pronunciation isn’t meaningfully different than the difference in pronunciation in words like “bath”, “dance”, or “ass/arse”, except that “twat” has the vowels switched in the opposite direction from what is more common.

No such word as “aluminium” exists in American English. But we certainly say “aluminum” correctly.

We already have one demented clown with orange hair scaring the shit out of us on a daily basis. Quit it with the bonus clowns.

let’s dissect my statement.

I don’t know why they didn’t just use Melissa McCarthy playing Sean Spicer. That would have been much better. And because Melissa would not have wanted to be in Spicer make up live since she was presenting, they could have pre-recorded her comments and had them in a large screen.

I am a white passing Latina.

Also, to be fair to the “happy” reaction shot folks, when I’m uncomfortable I often instinctively grin and giggle- I think my brain runs through my People Pleasing Face Alignment options when it doesn’t know what to do. I’ve totally gotten in trouble before for smiling/laughing during highly inappropriate moments,

This image, along with Melissa McCarthy’s look of disdain , was my favorite reaction. Rachel Bloom is clearly outraged and Chlumsky looked like she was witnessing something so appalling & bizarre she couldn’t decide if she should boo or vomit.

This looked like it had Jon Stewart’s fingerprints on it. It’s that old “maybe we’re all a little bit wrong” false equivalency that he could sometimes get into as if it’s guilt for being too hard on someone. Also stunt joking.

Not all Latinos are people of color though and they’re certainly not a monolith group, it makes sense that at least some of them would vote for a racist.

One of the sets of reaction gifs I saw had Rachel Bloom in the back looking

Shame on Colbert and the Emmy’s for this. This douchebag shouldn’t get a redemption tour.

If white liberals ever wonder why minorities are so hard on their “allies” at times, this is the PERFECT example of why that is.

I didn’t watch the Emmy’s last night but I saw this on Buzzfeed along with a lot of audience reactions and Melissa McCarthy’s face was definitely mine.
