There are dicks in every fandom. There are also a lot of violent, prejudiced and horrible people who proclaim themselves massive fans of a Middle Eastern dude who said the most important thing in his entire credo was love for other people. And no other religion or fan group is above this.

For real? Wake me up when the poor pro gamers are getting chemical burns, surviving run-ins with ancient and unsafe farm machinery, getting facial scars, tearing their miniscus, inhaling asbestos, working in sub-zero temperatures on stormy seas, or carrying refrigerators and armoires up and down narrow staircases -

Can we do boardgames? My favorite shrinking experience is a boardgame, Mice & Mystics. It’s a dungeon crawler, but you play as a standard adventurers group who have been turned into mice. You’re wandering around the castle kitchens and sewers, fighting things like cockroaches and spiders and trying not to get squished

Well, yes, obviously this is good PR. But at the same time it’s a very meaningful thing. A lot of big companies would have just sent a response in plain type and thrown in a coupon for 10% off their next game. Nintendo went the extra mile to write a letter the kid can actually read. That’s the kind of PR that actually

Yeast is a fungus.

I feel exactly the same way, and THANK YOU NINTENDO. A European WOC who is a giant movie star, hot as hell, cultured AND a supreme badass? Yes, please.

So basically, Douglas from the IT Crowd is a real person. Crap, I really wanted to believe he was a ludicrous caricature.

This pretty much just highlights how similar TMP and Tron Legacy are: sometimes fun, extremely trippy science fiction movies with killer soundtracks, sabotaged by having way too many long, drawn-out scenes where the music stopped and people started talking.

I thought Snowpiercer was pretty good, but the real reason I like him is the Host. One of the most amazing monster movies ever.

I know a woman whose daughter is named Indiana. She also has a dog named Mad Martigan and one named Sorsha. They are super cool people in my book.

Best Father’s Day card ever.

Easy. Because the central tenet of feminism is that all people are equal regardless of gender. There are other ways to do feminism, but that’s the core. And this book depicted that by showing a society beyond gender.

Is it only me that found the Name of the Wind kind of dull and not worthy of the insane worship it keeps getting? I think I got halfway through it before I decided it wasn’t all it was hyped to be. I mean, it wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t blowing my socks off, and I just don’t get the adulation.

Yeah, this is a huge omission of probably the most lauded feminist author in speculative fiction. And I would argue that having zero Octavia Butler is almost as bad. Feminism may not have been Butler’s main theme, but all of her books are feminist in their own way and equally relevant to the world today. The Bionic

I’m not really seeing any hard evidence that he isn’t, in fact, pulling one over on America. I imagine he does a happy little dance before bedtime every night in the White House, chortling to himself, “yup, still getting away with it”.

I’m still reeling from the idea that she said her own holiday shopping was woke af. It takes a special kind of personality to proclaim yourself woke, much less woke af. I did not even know there were people who did that.

It’s nice to have someone who isn’t me point this out for once, but from long experience I can tell you that nobody ever wants to hear it.

You know what? I’m totally okay with this. I’m a huge fan of the first two movies, and I’ve been a Del Toro cheerleader since Cronos. But GDT and Perlman don’t own the concept of Hellboy. Mike Mignola does. And GDT has scheduled himself out of so many potentially great things it’s practically his signature move. Let’s

I won’t link it because I feel like I would rather not have known, but for those who like to know every possible detail before they see the movie, there is a LEGO set that looks like it’s the movie’s big finish.

Heh, she could just as easily prove me wrong. I’m biased and I want the Wonder Woman movie to be good, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
