Well, yes and no. IDF service is mandatory, but these days it isn’t that hard for a woman to find a way out of it if she doesn’t want to serve, and a number of Israeli women who choose “supermodel” as a career do so.

I don’t know what all these complainers think Wonder woman should look like, but one thing I know for sure: Gal Gadot has gone through about two more years of military service than most of her detractors, including four months of infantry training to serve as a combat instructor. It remains to be seen if she can act,

NOW can we please let the Alien franchise go for maybe twenty years, until somebody comes up with a way to make it fresh all over again? Enough is enough, this horse isn’t going anywhere no matter how hard they beat it.

Try the Xenogenesis trilogy by Octavia Butler. Not note-for-note same theme, but along very similar lines. Butler also has a couple of similar stories in her collection Bloodchild and Other Stories. Very, very well done stories about the assimilation of our species by superior ones.

My favorite line in any Alien movie: “I’ve got access to Mother now, and I’ll get my own answers, thank you.”

I always liked the Inhumans as a fringe group in the Marvel comics. Sometimes allies, sometimes enemies, always with their own agenda. Medusa has always been one of my favorite recurring guest characters all around the Marvel books, and Karnak is also pretty darn awesome.

My online experience has been terrible. It’s really disheartening to learn that being able to beat my kids at Mario Kart does NOT mean I’m a good racer after all. Currently at 954 coins. (Although, honestly, I am improving slowly - for a while there I was around 920!)

Yeah, this is clearly setting the scene for a long, tortuous “even if no one else remembers it, I need to figure out if I can still call myself a hero” arc where Steve retires and yet another person takes up the Captain America title. Bonus points if *one* other person remembers it and has to go through a year or two

Are there really that many people that believe the whole “Captain America is a Nazi FOR REAL” story and needed to be reassured he is still a hero? I mean, I don’t care for the storyline myself, but I understand that it’s a story.

I’m very satisfied. The Switch is working out wonderfully as a family console and a handheld. I hear a lot of people talking about how there aren’t enough games yet, but there are more than enough for our needs. BOTW alone has eaten up hundreds of hours of my family’s time, while Fast RMX and Binding of Isaac

I can’t be the only one getting a strong ROM: Spaceknight vibe from that. Looks cool, anyway.

Same here. This thing looks fantastic, I want it - but it’s about a year too late and I don’t have an extra $150 to throw at a thing just because it’s real pretty.

I keep it turned off because I can’t even SEE 3D. This would have been a perfect machine for me if it had come out before I bought a New 3DSXL. But I did that, and now I have a Switch, and this is just the most frustrating announcement I’ve ever heard from Nintendo.

Switch $300. This $150. Not 1/3. I get your point but I’ve heard this “it’s 1/3 of the price” thing on other sites and it annoys the hell out of me. It is exactly 1/2, let’s not just round off $50. Fifty bucks is not a hell of a lot of money, but it’s not pocket change either.

Maybe when they finally run out of time they can end the season with Ollie saying, “I have to go back to the island”. And then the flashbacks become flashforwards!

Okay, i’ve been away for a long time. Does Flash always have speed lightning around him now? It’s kind of distracting.

I’m pretty sure the “did you ride a horse to school?” people were winding you up, because everybody knows all Americans drive pickup trucks or Hummers.

No, you guys, it’s okay, racism is a thing of the past! All my cottage-cheese-colored friends said so, so it must be true.

Personally I think the fact that it actually ends is huge point in its favor. F/SF literature tends to suffer from chronic sequelitis, and the stories inevitably end up being pale imitations of the earlier books (see Dune almost as soon as the first book is over, the Thieves’ World books after four or five entries,

Well, like a lot of other people I have a knee-jerk reaction of wanting to sneer about pretentious hipsters, but I just can’t do it, because these guys seem to feel the same way about the vinyl as I feel about books.
