All excellent points, but I must respectfully take exception with NJ having a 3 month drop top season. I live in the mountains of NH and drive my Miata from April through early November (or the first snow/ice). Heated seats + heater on full blast + hat + gloves + warm coat = 7.5 month season in the Northeast. My

Agreed. On the continuum of stock off-road ability with say a RAV4 on one end and a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon on the other, there is some middle ground that could use a few options. Some of us do do a bit of off-roading, enough that 4-lo is required, but would prefer not to make as many on-road compromises, since that

I really like the Trailhawk. It helps that I'm probably right in Jeep's marketing crosshairs for this: Skier, mountain biker, living in snowy region, and enjoy getting off the beaten path[1] on road trips. Giving up some of the XTerra's off-road chops for better fuel economy and a bit more of a car-like ride is

Coffee hasn't kicked in yet: "we can we" -> "can we"

And customers agree, with Jeep's little Cherokee becoming the best-selling vehicle in the lineup in the first year on its way to 170,000 annual sales. Despite the botched launch. Despite the transmission issues. Despite the face. Despite the fact that it's not "a real Jeep" in the eyes of some.

Um, is it made of platinum? Because then I'd get it.

But here's the thing: for the same $40,395 it would take to buy that F-150 I created, I can get a new 228i that's loaded with features. I can get the M Sport package, which includes 18-inch wheels, and sport suspension, and sport seats, and a sport steering wheel. I can get Estoril Blue, which is the greatest color in

Tried to hit CP as fast as I could, but had to clean the vomit off my keyboard first. I knew I should have fought through the stench and voted first, but I failed.

I used to think that too, but now I'm not so sure. I started riding some lift-served downhill this year after many years of "Old Man XC(tm)". There are 10 year olds launching off some pretty scary stuff. To them it's all about progression. Start small. Master it. Move on to something bigger. The guys are the

Other available toys include LED headlights and DRLs, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, a backup camera, and front collision sensing, depending on what you want to pay for. And while the S3's tacked-on infotainment screen remains part of the worst new trend in car design, it disappears down into the dash at the

The three-door hatchback and five-door Sportback look better, but the good news is we Americans are getting the second one, and it will come in diesel form too. That should keep you Euro-snobs happy.

Yup, suffering from O.L.D., there's no known cure.

1996!?! I'll go back to feeling old now.

This. I don't really care much what it looks like, just keep it the slightly-less-off-road worthy but far better on-road alternative to the Wrangler Unlimited that it already is today, but with better mileage (diesel please!). Do that and I trade in my 2008 XTerra Off-Road tomorrow. And oh, please keep the 6-speed

I'm biased obviously, but it's been and continues to be, one of the best vehicles I've owned. A diesel would solve my only real complaint, horrific mileage.

As the current owner of a 2008 XTerra Off-Road with a six-speed manual, I'd love (i.e. buy) a diesel XTerra in a heartbeat. Probably not going to happen, but I can dream.

When the AWD manual diesel arrives at my local dealership I'm going to drop everything and fly down there on my unicorn/pegasus hybrid and buy one. Wait, what's that you say? That sounds a bit hard to believe? Ok, ok, I know, but it does have an 4Motion badge, so it must be true.

Couldn't agree more about the visibility. In 2008 I was cross-shopping the FJ against Nissan's XTerra. I wanted to love the FJ, but ultimately went with the (arguably) more boring XTerra because it bested the FJ in pretty much every measure of practicality.

Damn it, my reading comprehension skills suck. I keep reading this looking for the part about more power, but I can't find it.
