I think this is a grand idea. When I read the FF as a boy, Reed and Ben were both WW II vets — Reed an OSS type and Ben a pilot, and the Cold War informed many of their plots.
I would love to see that FF on the big screen!
I’d love like a sixties spy-fi show featuring the FF. Like James Bond, Doctor Who and the (British) avengers rolled into one.
Yes, that’s a really really good point that someone else has also brought up. I can think of a number of ways around that.
I know the studios hate each other, but it seems inevitable that Fox and Marvel strike a deal soon. Fox needs to make some money off this debacle. Marvel would love to have the FF and its family of characters especially Doom, who could be the centerpiece of a Secret Wars movie.
He also has Hobey Brown (The Prowler) wearing the suit whenever Peter and Spider-Man have to be seen together. It’s a nice touch that gives some plausible deniability to anyone who gets overly suspicious. And some nice humor, like when Hobey-as-Spider-Man fought a villain and then ran into him again as the Prowler.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who saw the meta of the situation, and it felt like Peter and Johnny were Marvel talking to the fans in the last few panels.
