We need to teach women this. We need to role play it and give them practice doing it. We need to empower them, encourage them and give them the skills.
I thought this was going to have a bit more damaging allegations.
Too late. Christopher Plummer’s already been cast.
But the band that takes that name will be featured here at year’s end.
Well, I did, but that was just coincidence.
Agreed. It was a very interesting character beat that the thing he was yelling while beating up the heckler wasn’t “respect my woman” or some such thing but “she’s good.” That whole sequence was incredibly well acted.
I thought this show started pretty strong - I was enjoying the acting, the writing, the music, the cinematography... pretty much everything was above average for a comic book adaptation and it seemed to really have a defined aesthetic identity, my only issue with it at that point being that all the adult couples were…
This was a real surprise, and a great show. I don’t get the comparisons to Stranger Things, though. Beyond some 80's nostalgia—and not really a lot of it, at that—they really don’t have much at all in common.
When I started watching this show my expectations were already pretty low, but even after the third ep.... I had to give it a pass. It’s a mess. But what bothers me most is that these kids come from such privileged backgrounds.
I haven’t read the comics and was actually looking forward to this. The Runaways seemed to promise movement, flight, away from the parents, freedom and stuff. And now the episodes are about a dino in the basement?
Seeing a lot Joel hate here. I actually think he’s a really well-developed character, first presented simply as a dick but then you find out there are actual deep reasons behind his behavior. His strong insecurities feel real and are common with men, especially those of us who fall in love with a woman they and/or…
My best friend and I were away for a girls’ weekend at the beach last weekend, and the weather sucked so we stayed in watching TV. I had seen the show and she hadn’t, but I was so happy to watch it all again. The scenes with Suzie and Midge sounded so much like our conversations and the way we talk to each other that…
ASP is absolutely terrible at creating insufferable potential love interests for her characters, and refusing to move them on when they prove to be uninteresting. This show did really well in avoiding being “Gilmore Girls Pt II” (as opposed to “Bunheads”) and shining on its own merits, but Joel was so obviously…
This show makes me miss my grandma who was roughly the same age as Midge. My family are blue collar Jews from Queens, but there’s so much commonality to NY Jewry that it all feels relatable, even decades later.
The season finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is filled to the brim with plot twists, some of which had me shouting…
Actually, I thought Season 4 of BoJack Horseman ended on one of the most positive and hopeful notes since the show first aired. Hollyhock Manheim-Mannheim-Guerrero-Robinson-Zilberschlag-Hsung-Fonzerelli-McQuack was the best thing to happen to the show in a while and hope we see more of her next season.
Bojack ended this last season on it’s most hopeful note.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Twin Peaks both need to be higher. I’m convinced that if 2017 wasn’t the year that went to hell that Handmaiden’s Tale wouldn’t be nearly as high on the list.
It’s been a great year for TV. Legion was a show that absolutely blew away every preconceived notion I ever had about the X-men franchise and comic book shows in general. I genuinely fear for a joyfully batshit insane show like Legion when Disney inevitably gobbles up Fox.
