I don’t particularly hate the Merlin books but they also weren’t particularly good. The first five were very good, can definitely see them made into a great 30 or so episode series but it might need to be changed a bit more than most fans would like as I’m not sure wide audiences would appreciate the subtlety of the

Maybe aside from giving the next season a new plot they’ll also make it good. This one was depressingly awful.

If you mean it’s spot on in the sense that it exists then sure, but if you mean that it doesn’t exist in the US, or that it’s worse in Europe, then you’re badly misinformed.

Fingers crossed. They should take as long as they need, just get it right. And stop making terrible versions of it, Merlin was probably the worst but that last Guy Ritchie one also made me want to punch him repeatedly in the face.

For the lump of stinky poo poo that it was it did much more than alright. The fact so many people watched that pile of manure shows how beloved that story and world are, now if only someone could make one decent adaptation of it goddammit.

    Now playing

Not sure there’s another website where one can see reviews of Johann Johansson, Beak, Childish Gambino, Spiritualized and Aphex Twin in the same article. Well done AV Club, well done.

Especially looking forward to Beak, those two new singles are fucking amazing. I actually liked the one you didn’t link so much it made

    Dear USA,
We don’t want her in the first place please don’t dump her on us, we have enough problems. Send her to Russia or something...

Half of which would contain mind-numbing, soul-destroying cheesefest.

It’ll either be an insane success or a bomb, I have a feeling it’ll mostly come down to the marketing. I trust Villeneuve to do an incredible job with it visually which will be one part of selling it, but not enough (as we saw with BR 2049). The other part of it has to be somehow getting people hyped for something

I imagine if it does as well as Legendary hopes it will be at least a pentalogy, with Children of Dune also having well over enough material for two features.

    a) She wasn’t constantly being fed rat poison, only when she was ‘sick’
    b) I don’t remember the detective being so unequivocal but even if, he concluded that after trying to pull out pig’s teeth which are significantly stronger than those of a 14 year old human child.

I thought it was true to the character and the story that she went the route that she did. It might have been the first time in her entire life that she felt loved by her mom, and given Amma’s relationship with Dora she probably also needed it to come from the outside rather than be the family-destroyer herself.

And still I can’t stress enough how impressed I am with the musical curation on the show and Valle’s use of it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie or show use so many different styles of music, and so much of it, and yet made it seem so smooth and stylistically cohesive... and always to add texture and spice rather

Loved it. Amma was actually my no. 1 suspect throughout most of the season, but by the last two episodes they got me to forget about her... but then that supposed post-resolution epilogue kept getting longer and longer... and the camera lingers an extra second on Amma as she goes to bed...

I found out, it was by The Acid (of course)

I loved last night’s version, really hope they will reveal who it was by

That’s why I said that’s technically true, it’s just not what people mean when they say a person is Latin. I guess if he was natively fluent in Italian it would’ve probably helped his Spanish pronunciation, at least his ‘r’s wouldn’t sound so thick. Whatever is coming out of his mouth sounds nothing like Chilean

Only if you consider Italian to be Latin, which technically it sort of is but I don’t think that’s what you meant. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have any Spanish-speaking roots.

Breaking Bad was a perfect show... apart from the few instances when Giancarlo Esposito was asked to speak Spanish. If you’re gonna make him continue to do that, pleaase make him work on his accent.

Is it me or was this episode shot and directed in really cheaply? From the first shot of Eugene looking over the cratered town it just felt like an amateur/soap opera style production.
