That won’t be a popular opinion, but I think cars are so damn fast nowadays that some slack can be cut to the techs.

I think the key is the movie was made in 2003... Old Z cars were dirt cheap in the early 2000's. You could buy a pretty nice late 60's muscle car or an E30 M3 for high 4-figures. I would say a 280Z back then would be analogous to a mid 90's Celica today in price/desirability.

I’ve come close a few times on long road trips just because I’m picky about what gas I use. If I have an 1/16 of a tank and the only station at the next exit is “Jim Bob’s Homemade Gas-Oh-Lean”, I’ll chance making it to the next exit in the hopes of seeing a BP or Shell. It’s been tight a couple times.

Weaving in and out of traffic violently enough that loss of control is a possibility is reckless driving and should absolutely be dealt with.
