I didn't know Wynstone posted to AV Club. That's awesome.

"But for me, I don't wanna go to no docks unless I can catch some fish."
"Who the fuck was I fishing?"
Anyone who calls The Wire "bullshit"—especially the dude responsible for the garbage that is The Black Dahlia—has lost all credibility.
Yeah, you're 100% right about the second point. The Yellow King stuff in the first season got way out of control. Really annoying. I guess it's easy to rile us up.
I thought there was an unusually strong cinematic consistency to the first season which I attributed to Fukunana's directorial voice. But that might just be magical thinking on my part. I can't deny that many shows with multiple directors have succeed before.
This is a good reminder. Forgot that he did that. Reassuring.
I'm definitely not "done with this show." Believe me: I was a huge fan of season one. I didn't get sucked into the Yellow King hype or any of that nonsense. Maybe my wording was a little too strong, but I only meant to convey that I'm concerned about the direction of the show. Doesn't mean I won't watch it…
I would love to be proven wrong. Seriously. Looking forward to it.
I was psyched about a second season of True Detective, and I tuned out all of the nay-saying. But the more I hear, the more it sounds like Nic Pizza-what's-his-face lost his damn mind.
So many absurd Marc Bolan lyrics:
I almost wish that show were real.
So pumped!
It's difficult, but in the best way possible. The difficulty just makes it more addicting.
Hotline Miami is a glorious affront to the big-budget studio games that keep getting forced down our throats.
I love David Simon's shows and everything, but this premise sounds bureaucratic as hell. Is his next show going to be about a file clerk who's combating the institutional failure of a malfunctioning coffee machine?
I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
I love that "Pickpocket" is essentially a variation on "Crime and Punishment."
I realize that stable marriages don't make for easy drama, but there has to be a happy medium between the absurd Leave It To Beaver nuclear family cliché and the embittered, sexless marriage cliché. I come from a family of nine kids, and the majority of us are happily married (as far as I can tell, obviously). I'm not…
Not gonna lie: it was a great set.
