In this era of globalization with our country involved in over $5 Trillion in global trade, we (more than most countries) can’t afford to have our GDP take a hit.

If you want US navy protection, flag your ships with our flag. Pay your workers according to our laws and pay our taxes. Otherwise get Mongolia to protect you or whatever other flag of convenience you fly.

The V40 is listed as “modified”, but nothing as to what that modification entails. Though I think that in that modified state, it’s called the Volvo P1 platform. Otherwise the Ford Global C platform for the Focus & Mazda 3 also entails the MKC, Transit Connect, C-Max, Mazda 5, and new Escape.
I think the 1st and 2nd (1.5 in the US) generations did, the current generation focus is it’s own deal.
That being said, the ecoboost owes a lot to Mazda as well.
