Steph already roasted the world in the 2014 basketball world cup (which no one watches). We want to beat the rest of the world in their preferred game.

“Rarely do I feel patriotic. Actually, I mostly abhor patriotism because of how frequently it wraps itself around jingoism and brutality.”
Don’t change the subject! We’re not talking about why the U.S. isn’t a world beater. We’re talking about why the U.S. under Klinsmann is losing to Guatemala and tiny island nations.
Klinsmann was holding back those MLS players from having a better WC. They achieved what they did despite his coaching.
The US was my surrogate team.
Look at who played, Sonny: five MLSers played against Ghana, 8 against Portugal, 8 against the Germans, 7 against the Belgians.
At least he’s consistent.
I would also add that he seems to have completely destroyed the powerful chemistry and spirit that this team used to be known for. He gave uncommitted or unworthy players too many chances, simply because they did not learn their game in the States. A locker room filled with players who did not earn their being there…
The 2014 WC team was comprised mostly of MLSers, and they held their own against international opposition (despite Klinsmann’s bad coaching). MLS is a possible scapegoat for why we cannot beat Belgium, not for why we cannot beat freakin’ Guatemala.
Even if that were true (and it certainly is not), it still does not excuse losing to the likes of Guatemala.
Wondo’s shot wasn’t as easy as it looked (although a better player probably would’ve had a better shot).
The U.S. hasn’t looked good in an official game since the final Landon Donovan Gold Cup. Since then, the U.S. have been lackluster even when they got good results which has not been too often. This is all Klinsmann’s fault.
I wish. However, even if they offered it to him, Landon cares about the USMNT and is responsible enough that he would turn down the offer, being an inexperienced coach.
Bullshit. The states have reached the round of 16 in the last two consecutive world cups (last time with only MLS players, and despite Klinsi’s piss poor managing). No reason to settle for less or give up.
I think it will be hard to stop soccer’s snowballing popularity in America, but Klinsmann has definitely helped slow down this snowball.
Klinsmann can help design the kits. Other than that he should not be making any decisions on any level that have to do with tactics and player development.
There is a limit to what we can care about. That is, each of us has a finite list of problems that he or she can care about (because we cannot possibly know everything). Our mind has different mechanisms for deciding which of these problems we care about more and devote more time to solving. Certain problems get more…
At this point, if you haven’t figured out what kind of a sportsman Lebron is, then you will not change your mind even if he paid someone to break Steph Curry’s knees with a crowbar. Lebron knows this, and he’s going to jump ship.
Jeff Maurer already holds that title for real.
