The last paragraph is spot on. In larger companies and staffing agencies the chances are very good that the person who first sees the resume will have NO idea what the job is or what makes you special. A lot of this applies more to jobs at what some consider to be the less creative end of the spectrum, and these

That's a reason I'm no longer a fan of HP. They used to support computers for a long, long time. Me, I buy a decent case with a solid power supply and build my own. I don't have to worry about what Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba or whomever will support next month. Just what the mobo company will support.

I just looked at the Comply web site. Their replacement tips cost more than the monoprice earbuds. I have to wonder if it wouldn't be more cost efficient to buy earbuds that are comfortable from the gitgo.

When I lived in Austins, Anderson's Coffee was my go to shop. They roast daily so the coffee is always fresh. Now I live in Dallas and mail order from them. I get the coffee the day after I order it. So far, I've felt no desire to go down the roast your own rabbit hole - I have too many nerdy obsessions already.

A followup to my own message. Switching from a Samsung Epic 4g to a Samsung Galaxy Nexus took care of the Waze issues. Was it the earlier Android OS? Was it hardware differences? Bad drivers? Phase of the moon? I don't really know, I just know I'm happy now!

Nope, it's a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, not a Nexus S.

I thought I'd replied.... wonder if lifehacker retains replies. Anyway, the point of the satire.... people don't read or think about the petitions they sign. People are signing petitions to ban WATER. A zealot tells someone something is dangerous and it's EVERYWHERE, so that someone signs the petition. I think we

Like you, I have no complaints about CFL's. The mercury issue was always a red herring, and the mercury content is very low now. They can be dimmed. They last for years. Newer one light up quickly.

I like the idea of unit pricing, and have been looking at unit pricing in grocery stores for many years. And... it's usually a waste of time. This can of beans is unit priced out at cost per pound. The next one, which is the same sort of beans, is priced in cost per ounce. *sigh* Unit pricing would be more useful

The point is that some people will sign a petition without considering - for an instant - what they are asking for. "Dude, do you realize you want to ban WATER?"

As part of a family plan, we're running about $50 per head per month. Unlimited data, 4g for all, and either 800 or 1,200 shared voice minutes. Since they have unlimited cell to cell voice minutes as well as unlimited nights and weekend voice, we never come close to using our minutes. So, I guess they are paying me

DHMO is NOT a hoax. To start with, everything they say about it is true. It is ubiquitous, it does cause many deaths, it is present in all cancers. I don't recall a single thing they said that was untrue

It's not a hoax. Everything he copied and pasted about water is demonstrably true. Water can kill and hurt you in many ways. It causes property damage. It is part of every cancer cell. When heated to high temperatures, it can burn you.

Sprint has them for $99 now, with a 2 year contract. And they throw in an extended life battery, a $49.99 value. However, the standard battery is about 1,800 mah, the extended life battery about 2,100. Not that big a difference. On a number of other phones I've used Seidio batteries with excellent results. You

Evidently the exchange client polls the server a LOT to insure it is maintaining a connection. Hundreds, if not thousands, of connections per hour. It adds up. As opposed to polling once every 4 hours, or whatever you select.

If you are using push notifications, switch to polled. Our Exchange admin asked me to because I was touching the exchange server hundreds of times an hour to maintain the push connection. Polling once every 4 hours has really increased my battery life.

A SWTP 6800, based on the Motorola 6800 processor. 8 bits. Came with 2k of static ram. By the time I replaced it, I'd upgraded it to a whopping 32k of ram. Please note, that's K as in kilobyte. I learned assembly language programming on it, and the 6800 was a lot sweeter a chip than the 8080/z-80 family. In the

A number of years ago I was talking to a pet store owner. She'd always had trouble telling people what bully sticks were. And then the nightly news gave her the answer. "They're..... ahhh.... bobbits! From cows." Smiles always ensued for reasons I never really understood.

Google Maps for Android is really, really nice and I wish I could use it more often. On my Sprint Galaxy Epic S 4G phone, Google Maps loses satelite sync with a depressing degree of regularity, even though GPS Test by Chartcross shows good satellite connectivity. Even though there's a clear sky. Even though GPS

Waze has a very nice speedometer bundled in it. Not sure about the other tools.
