There is such political naivety in the US that it only takes one image of five Palestinians dancing in the street to obliterate the bigger picture.

This. Every argument I’ve heard about it “influencing pop culture” or “movies” is either “3D” or “it made a ton of money”. None of those a cultural; they’re technical and financial.
It’s always such a rare joy when you come across a minority in pop-culture who’s treated as not being defined by said minority-ness, innit?
WHERE WILL YOU BE WHEN THE SUCROSE KICKS IN?
No, no, no, no, no, no, APKW. Did you not get the press release and the cash transfer from Wilde’s press team?
He’s a fuckin’ wrestler turned actor. The fuck do you want from him?
This had better be terrifying.
As a former marketing bastard, this things reeks of a massive PR campaign - no, not to promote this particular, this film is merely a part of it. It sounds like the campaign is to rebrand Wilde as not just some nerdbait/TV actor as a genuine “auteur”, a director, dramaturgist, and thespian.
On the part of Wilde or the AV Club?
This is 100% not Pugh’s responsibility. It is not her problem, her bullshit, and issuing a statement would only enable Wilde.
I’m glad someone’s been reading my erotic fan fiction.
I think it’s called Put Aside Your Concerns, Sweetums.
Follow your dreams, KCS! You can do it!
...says the guy defending a TV series that launched in the sixties. Why you watchin’ BOOMER TV, zoomer?
Ah, nothing like calling someone who doesn’t share you opinions of - checks notes - a TV show a troll, because, as I said, you’re not exactly great at relating to others who are different to you. Your arguments would go better if you didn’t keep proving me right.
“Youtube,” mused WowBOBWow, “how the fuck does such a thing exist?”
It’s Star Trek. If the entire show didn’t consist of paragons of virtue loudly and clearly declaring and spelling their thoughts and actions to each other, they wouldn’t have the fanbase they do.
Yeah, nah. Star Trek’s boring. I understand the appeal for people of a certain...mindset...but I like a bit more complexity to my characters, and, more importantly, their interactions.
