A cursory IMDB search confirms for me that Ruth Wilson is not in this, thus basically alleviating any need I might have to watch it. The show felt deeply generic every second that she wasn’t around. 

Are they really all that competent, though? How many situations have we seen them win through sheer luck, or by the skin of their teeth, or because they happened to make the “right” call for stupid, petty reasons?

Well, Shirley Manson can sometimes sing with a bit of a playful twinkle in her eye, and some of their song titles are a little arch, but I don’t know if I’d describe their work as “funny.”
