I was 13 when RotJ came out. I loved the space battles and other bits and bobs but was put off by how it felt like Lucas was redoing ANH. Pretty much the same critique people throw at Disney’s sequel trilogy.

“The movie came out when I was 9" is all you had to say. The rest is irrelevant because you were at the age most likely to view it favorably, whether it turned you into a lifelong fan or not. ;)

Agreed, that’s been the general consensus with people I’ve talked to who are familiar with both versions as well.

It’s interesting that you bring up Kick Ass, because I would apply your criticisms of The Boys to that property instead; I personally feel Kick Ass has far less of a moral compass than The Boys. Good thing art is subjective. :)

Season 2 was greenlit a week before it aired, so there’s some other metric in play.

You made me realize that Trump is that woman fingering The Deep’s gills while she gets off in The Boys.

JJ was honestly saying that in 2015. Dark Side user does not equal Sith. See: Nightsisters

In 2000 I had choices for how to manage/ play my MP3s. Let’s also not forget that iTunes itself was just SoundJam MP with additional cruft that just got worse at time went on. I begrudgingly tolerated it because yes, it was required to put music on my iPod, as opposed to just dragging the files onto the iPod mounted

Wait, wait, wait. What happened to “let the past die” or “Kylo is not a Sith” from JJ when TFA was in production? Sounds like a lot of backpedalling is going to happen in this film. :\

Sure, and every time Western MMOs try subscriptions these days they fail, and switch to microtransactions.

Funny, you sound like me when the prequels came out. Absolutely loathe them, will never watch them again, though the cartoon almost makes up for how disappointed I was in the films. That doesn’t negate their right to exist, it’s just a part of Star Wars I generally avoid visiting. I’ve also never been interested in

Ding!

Bullshit. Every studio head says it to their crunching staff. “This is hard now, but it’ll be worth it when executives take home their sweet bonuses for shipping before the Q3 earnings call and you’ll feel the warm glow of knowing you worked on a multi-million dollar franchise and were actually paid less than minimum

In practice, it has contributed to the belief that you can’t be an artist if you are fairly compensated for it. I’ve lost track of people who’ve reached out to me for commissions but balk as paying even a living wage for the work.

You were right the first time. I like to trot out this simple example:

That’s not true at all. When I’m not forced into an arbitrary marketing deadline, I can get away with a smaller team for a longer burn, prove out the design without the overhead of a huge team, and the games are better for it. Destiny didn’t have 700 people working on it from day one.

That’s why contracting exists, don’t spin this into a labor dispute.
