I would imagine! I mean, good sci fi is great but all these “expanded lore” books tend to be awful literature (minus a few here or there). I remember reading the Halo books in 8th grade and actually thinking “So this is what a badly written book is”

interesting. I did not have that for Force Awakens, but I assume that’s because I read a lot of the expanded universe and got the gist of what was happening because of it.

I completely agree. Unless the story is intentionally vague and piece meal (a la Dark Souls/Bloodborne) I should not have to refer to some outside form of media to get the context. And, if there is some comic/movie/book, it should not be required to understand what is going on in the game.
