I forgot about this happening so thank you for sharing. Alex as a Trump supporter is the most perfect update to that character.

Same here. Someone else posted this elsewhere in the thread and it’s worth sharing again. Eddie designed the guitar Jack was playing during the second song:

I think Beck and the Dust Brothers came up with most of those ideas for the songs and samples, and the other “credits” on the album are the source recordings of where the samples came from. Same with Paul’s Boutique.

I had a feeling he was using a guitar like that as an EVH tribute but I didn’t know Eddie actually designed it. That’s even cooler. Thanks for sharing!

I could not believe how young he still looks. He’s been very famous for nearly 20 years and he looks exactly the same. It’s wild!

It’s a one-note joke that would get played out very, very quickly. It had to die.

Jack White seems to play music only he likes listening to.”

It was firmly rooted in blues guitar tropes, but he played the fuck out of it so I dug it. Also, his drummer with the oddly tilted-forward drums, what the hell was that? He was awesome, but I’ve NEVER seen drums set up at that kind of angle. The second song, I love that Jack is using an EVH-style guitar and even

I grew up in Massachusetts at around the same time as Bill Burr. His Canton and my hometown of Saugus were within high school rival egg-chucking distance” wait, what? Canton is 30 miles south of Saugus, and you’d have to go THROUGH Boston to get there, which is a traffic nightmare that adds at least 40 minutes to any

The score for The Omen is also legitimately frightening and evil-sounding and any scene that might seem campy is immediately rendered horrifying by the swells of music.

This seemed to be the popular take 10-15 years ago but I think the original is superior. 2 is wildly entertaining but the first one seems to take itself very seriously which is why I enjoy it a lot more.

Alien is on HBO Max now and I just watched it for the first time ever yesterday. Highly, highly recommended.

I had never sat down and watched Alien in full until yesterday. I had seen plenty of clips and knew about John Hurt and the chest bursting, etc., but the movie still had multiple surprises that I did not expect (the Ash reveal in particular fucking ROCKED me). Easily one of my favorite films ever and possibly my

Yes.

How is Stu Redman the Stephen King stand-in?

I’m pretty sure she is. I think they made reference to it with Kelly on The Office at one point or another.

The chords in the solo are the same progression as the verse. Eddie probably just said, “Let me play it over the verse chords” and that’s what he did. It sounds like they wanted him to just jam over the breakdown part where Michael repeats “beat it beat it beat it” and it’s all just the same note underneath.

It’s worth noting that Eddie was the one playing those keyboards, if you didn’t know that already. When Sammy joined the band I think that really freed up his ability to write more on the piano and keys, and not to rely so heavily on the loud guitars carrying everything.

Iha wasn’t even much of a hero for his playing, Billy played the majority of Pumpkins’ solos.

Pantera did that on a number of their songs throughout their career due to the VH influence. They only had one guitarist, why would there be multiple guitars during a solo? VH didn’t always do that, but when they did, it made sense for the song and sounded great.
