How do you figure it fizzled? It was meant to be a halo car and usher in the new “///i” division. It’s been out for 2 years, the auto journos reviewed it and gave it solid reviews, they’re still striking when you see them. What more could be expected?

It’s not supposed to get the traffic through faster. It’s supposed to make a queue shorter and thus, as in the example described by supraphonic, not block up junctions earlier down the road.
