@Tsylord: My family has always taken our animals to the vet to have them put down in their dying days. Usually at this point, there's some sort of untreatable condition that's painful and slowly killing them, so we do the merciful thing and hold them in the clinic's room in their final moments.

@3rdshift: Perfect Dark (xbla) and Samurai/Dynasty Warriors are just pure unabashed slice-and-dice fun.

@ngamesnick: Download Steam, and then just sort of poke around. Oftentimes they'll have outrageous sales, but if you want immediate results, get Orange Box, Braid and Civ4.
