Excuse me, with Halle Berry playing *sexy* basketball.
Excuse me, with Halle Berry playing *sexy* basketball.
Maybe the success of Joker will inspire a similar movie, Catwoman. *listens to earpiece* What? With Halle Berry playing basketball? That can’t possibly be true.
I’ll watch it for all the cheekbones on all these beautiful ladies.
I really want a better vehicle for Pfeiffer. I want to relive her amazing run during the late 80s and early 90s.
Nice to see Michelle Pfeiffer back out there, been a while.
I mean, look, my first experience with Nazis depicted in culture was “Spike Jones - Der Fuehrer’s Face” which is a comedic song about punching Nazis, and I grew up hating Nazis just fine so I’m not going to die on a hill saying that you shouldn’t make comedic pieces about Nazis. My first symbolic thought when I think…
There certainly is a middle ground, yes. I was just expressing my personal feelings on the issue.
I feel like making the Nazis into cartoons, which Waititi’s movie may or may not do (I haven’t seen it,) isn’t the “best” way to portray them. I think the best way to portray Nazis is to examine what they said and what…
Yeah mocking Nazis is a good bonding exercise, a good way to show others who agree with you that you agree with them and it’s funny to puncture pomposity in general but it doesn’t do anything to prevent, stall, change, persuade or end them. Sure they might enjoy people thinking of them as monsters but they don’t care…
Okay, so the original post said you shouldn’t call them monsters. But they were monsters. Actually fucking monsters.
“that the reason why there are even still lots of people today admiring and wanting to be Nazis because they’re under the myth and false impression that they really were this super-intelligent master race”
Not really. Many episodes of Supernatural written by women were criticized by Eric Thurm and Zack Handlen for gender problems.
Ah I love a bit of pedantry. Yeah Nazi scientists were useless the US just employed them after the war for no reason.
Except they weren’t incompetent? They were extremely competent at imprisoning and murdering people. And they definitely weren’t goofballs. And the Nazis that they’re talking about in this movie don’t actually exist anymore (mostly) and the truth should be told about them. I don’t think it’s accurate to compare today’s…
The Nazis took a country ravaged and humiliated by war and built it into a superpower in years. Given the persistence of their ideology, I don’t think it’s wise to underestimate them.
I’m certainly not wrong. The Nazis were, by and large, regular everyday people not that much different than you or me. When’s the last time you’ve actually taken effective, real action against the evil things your government does?
I’ve certainly never said that people should never joke about, or make fun of Nazis.…
Go home.
I didnt like hook so much when I first saw it (12,13 years old?) But now I enjoy it a lot more!
Sir you are clearly insane!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Little Monsters was Night Breed for kids.
Fascinating to see how Rabin's perspective on his quest changed from this inaugural piece to what he openly concedes in later reviews. Being honest in reacting to art will do that to you.
