There’s just so much here. Part of the reason this situation feels so odd and unprecedented is because, as the letter alludes to, this is an extremely nuanced situation that is being handled in the court of public opinion- a court that is famously bad at handling nuance.

Lost was one of my all time favorites, but the more I think back on it, the more I realize that it did a terrible job with the women on the show.

I’m rewatching Lost and have realized that all of Kate’s failings are because of awful writing. Evangeline did the best with what she was given. Same with Tauriel.

I never liked Evangeline Lilly and the longer this Wasp World Tour goes on, the more I realize that that was entirely me being hung up on her two biggest roles to date (Kate and Tauriel) having been poorly directed roles that were run into the ground by men who didn’t know what the fuck they were doing.

You know, some people also didn’t like The Last Jedi because it’s a structurally questionable movie with some bad writing and underdeveloped (or underused) characters.

Because they’re cocky assholes that’s why. Remember when Tarkin refused to evacuate the Death Star at their “moment of triumph”?
