I think you need some kind of data to back up a claim like this. You even admit that it makes you “feel” more productive. Maybe that’s it. You aren’t doing much to dispel the idea that this is a fad by saying you loooove it. You need data. How many emails do you reply to on average? How many minutes are spent on

I teach computer science to K-5th grade and I can’t support you more. These debates are always full of analogy, and that is tough, because they don’t fit any of the molds we try to put them in. The internet is a very unique innovation and its role in society is growing and changing. The Restaurant example about

Or just a nice soda.

Here is a Good Opinion Piece on NPR about just what you are describing. Being happy should be a byproduct of being resilient, not a goal in and of itself.

I really get what you are saying, and that is valid, BUT I think that, as a parent, it is my responsibility to stay home then. If I can’t prioritize others, I have to limit my time in places like that. If I need to go cross-country by myself with kids, then I will still fly rather than drive. And I will do my best.

fixed front-wheel strollers are a pain if you are not ALWAYS going in a straight line and must be finely adjusted so they do not stray to one side or the other. Unless you are off-roading your baby jogging, I would recommend a stroller with a front wheel that spins freely.

Mr. Rogers (amazon prime) is the absolute best. He talks to the camera and relates to kids. He discusses things relevant to them. The show also doesn't use action or even more editing and switching of camera angles than absolutely necessary. It is a great "first show".

Sorry. I have to call this hack out as a bad idea. It works in theory, but there are too many variables in play with a sleep over. Either kids are young enough to have issues with being afraid to sleep away from home, or they are old enough to use it as an opportunity to cause mischief. Either way, the adults who live

"what do your customers under/over value?" It might be a good way to see when you don't really need a plumber or what drinks are easy enough to forgo at the cafe.

I really think an open discussion by the lifehacker staff about morally questionable posts would be worthwhile. Today you posted an article on how to commit credit card fraud to steal intellectual property from authors. I think that deserves some debate.

You kind of said this, but I think it is important to decide how much your time is worth as well. If you are unemployed or have a lot of time, that is a factor. Also, if you could work 1 hour of overtime to pay someone else to do a project it would take you 10 hours to DIY, then maybe you should stick to what you are

I am a grad school grad who would have loved this advice. My department did nothing to help networking and I had no idea that it was something I should be doing until it was too late. I would also add that going to a grad school that pays you a stipend is more than about the short term money. You get "on the job

You are right. Each person has their own opinion. If that makes opinions invalid, you are welcome to start a trend by keeping yours to yourself.

Manual control of how long Siri listens by holding down the Home button while you speak.

I have to say that I am disturbed by the level of entitlement that people feel in regards to movies, tv and sports. They are all created or organized by people who would like to be paid, but at the very least should get to control their own creation. Just because you WANT something, doesn't mean you should get it.
