I get that the profit margin on games is small. Core gamers buy more products though. While casuals will buy more systems overall, core gamers keep the market afloat as hardware sales are not where most of the profit comes from it’s software. Since casuals by little in the way of software, they aren’t really the “market” i.e. the cash.

It just seems silly to dangle an HDD off of your system and make it clunkier, take up more space and look uglier when you could have just put a 500GB HDD inside of it in the first place.

Tiny percentage? Core gamers generally make up the bulk of the market after casuals who have all moved onto smartphones.
