I would say the best way to spot them is if they have an older (15-20+ yr.) car that isn't really all that common anymore. It doesn't always work but it seems to be the best indicator.
A friend and I used an '01 Grand Marquis and it worked quite well in the area surrounding the auto show. It was fun to valet park it!
